| NIKON D40 CAMERA |
The day when typhoon Ondoy hit the country is the same day when I met a new friend in the form of a Nikon D40 DSLR Camera. It was also the day after the Engineering Night 2009. Well, I cannot deny the fact that I'm in a state of depression and stress that time and all I want to do is to rest, sleep and not to enjoy the company with my friends, but this new little friend helped me forget everything that had happened (for a while) and enjoy the 2-day stay at Aiko's house in Cavite.
At first glance, it really resembles my brother's Nikon D80. Yes, my brother have one, but I never had the chance to take a shot or even touch it for more than 3 seconds, maybe because he is too selfish that he does not want any of his siblings, except my youngest brother, to use his most valuable gadget.

| IN FRONT OF A MIRROR |
I took several pictures with my friend's D40 and I proved that the pictures are better than those taken from an ordinary digital camera, but at first, I admit that it is really hard to handle due to its bulky size. After few hours experimenting and taking pictures of my friends while they are playing cards, I took pictures of different objects - anything that caught my attention - and my friends Aiko and Paulo taught me some techniques in taking shots (which I already forgot. hehe). I also tried to take pictures of myself, but it is really hard to do! So I stopped and ask Paulo to take pictures of mine.
That 2-day stay had been filled with so much experience and memories. Even in the service van as we go home, I'm still taking pictures with D40, capturing the flooded areas of Cavite caused by Ondoy. My experience ended when we reached Buendia and had to ride on a bus. It was really fun using the Nikon D40 DSLR camera. If only I could have one...
Someday I know I will be able to have one.
Exactly! That is what learning is. You suddenly understand something you've understood all your life, but in a new way and in a new sense. As what have Martina Horner have quoted,"What is important is to keep learning, to enjoy challenge, and to tolerate ambiguity. In the end there are no certain answers". We can't deny the fact that our life experiences make us a better person and sometimes, through these experiences we tend to dream of something either of material or immaterial. Just like you, you are aiming to have that cool gadget.
TumugonBurahinI hope i could have too.. at least one..(haha)
I remember that day Mr. Rowel! You don't give a chance to get off of that cam because you really like to used it! (haha)
TumugonBurahinAnyway, this is a great post. Congratulations!
That gadget makes me reminisce my past experience. Actually, it was not good. Yet, I learned a lot.
TumugonBurahinThank you for the blog!
I don't have this kind of camera, but this is my first choice of camera when choosing a camera... it is very stylist, when you using it you feel like you’re a real photographer,
TumugonBurahinAnd when it comes to picture quality DSLR camera is one of the most high quality pictures...
This is one of the reasons why i really like this camera; someday i will have this kind of camera.
honga, it's been a year, atleast the camera caugh your attention to forget anything that gets into your nerves. :)
TumugonBurahinactually taking pictures in that kind of camera is like you're are in the state of exorcism. you never know that you've take a lot of picture until you checked it out. a lot of people feel that the passion in the photography (even if they are not fit into it). yeah, that little buddy makes you forget all the stress whenever you handle it and use it. it also makes you love yourself a lot.
TumugonBurahin____sarah____
oh i forgot to mention it. that little buddy is another way to expressed all your thought and feelings...
TumugonBurahinso i promise that in the near near future...
i want a bonding moment in the sense of photography with all of you guys...
I tried to keep both arts alive, but the camera won. I found that while the camera does not express the soul, perhaps a photograph can!
TumugonBurahinThe camera also carries sorrow, when you see the picture again, remember also the sadness that carried it.
TumugonBurahinthis is one good example of there's always a bright-side in everything... there was a calamity but you've experienced new thing like taking pics on Nikon D40 DSLR Camera, downside(again)= u dont personally own one but bright-side = someday i bet u will :)
TumugonBurahinInstead of just recording reality, photographs have become the norm for the way things appear to us, thereby changing the very idea of reality and of realism.
TumugonBurahini remember that day. Time moves so fast. its like, it just happened yesterday, Ondoy made us happy and worried at the same time, because of that Typhoon, we had to stay at Aiko's place for some days and have some games and everything but made us worried on what could have happen on our Family. For what i see. you had so much fun with that CAM, you took most pics of us during our stay at Aiko's Place. Atleast your worries that days was gone thanks to that HANDY DANDYYY CAMERA.
TumugonBurahinnice article,:) i want "D40" to be my friend too.. (but maybe soon?) actually, i want to learn more on photography but i don't have also the resource --- the camera. 'twas quite exciting to take pictures especially when you're in the mood ("feeling of a first timer" :) ). the learning process is quite difficult! (proven!) hehehe,, but once you had it, appreciation is the most flattering part,:) (pwede ng mag-asawa! hehehe,c:)
TumugonBurahinpeople often feel happy when they see a good shot of a picture. often heard: "wow, ang ganda naman ng kuha", "ang galing naman ng kumuha". seldom heard: "napakaexpressive naman ng kuha", "may pinaghuhugutan ang kumuha nito", for the photographers, each shot has a meaning. some people often "look at" the pictures but some seldom "look into" the pictures, including the photographers. each shot, for me, can project a thought, and quoting a line on what i have read, "you don't take a photograph, you make it". when you make a photograph, you bring color to a gloomy scene, bring life to a dull environment.:)
i felt the emotion on the part wherein you want to have that thing but you can't have it.:( but the good thing was you had pa rin your interest on it,:) a meaningful experience indeed,;)
I never take a hand on a DSLR camera even a single shot..i wish I have one too!
TumugonBurahinOhh!! Someday can you buy one for me too??? ^u^
You are really the man, a D40 cam been use to take shot to the the devastating flood tragedy, in place of taking shots with yourself, how kind you are!...
great experience, great passion and great blog! maybe it would be happier if you found your GF through this technology. hahahaha!
TumugonBurahinwow. i really love dslr too :)the picture is clear and you can focus the lens of it to the object you want to take picture... nice cam :)
TumugonBurahinGreat experience :)
Good writeup on the camera Mark. Can' wait to read your review of the D40 now!
TumugonBurahinApparently there's something you are having a difficult time understanding. That is that photography is about capturing what is, as opposed originating what is.
TumugonBurahinAgain, where in there does morals come in? Will you argue that the tree didn't fall because you didn't hear it or see it?
Oh... I remember that day huh...that your so stress because of E-nyt?hehehe...
TumugonBurahinanyway, I'm happy for you because you found another interest..like dslr camera..I hope that someday I will also learn how to use that...
Great job! =)
i really love dslr. cam. it is combine the latest in technology with ease of use to produce incredible digital images. Compare the features, explore the benefits and delve into the details and specs. Turn your ideas into images with a Nikon D-SLR.
TumugonBurahingreat experience. :)
I have this camera. I love it so much it captures really good pictures and it shows every detail of the object your taking a picture of.
TumugonBurahini can relate with you too! my sister has a dslr cam too, i haven't touched it yet! haha.. hope i have a friend like yours pra maka experience din aku ng ganyang camera..
TumugonBurahinyah.. i witness that my dear friend.. hope someday you can buy your own camera.. and... I CAN BE YOUR MODEL.. IM WILLING :>
TumugonBurahinShort but nice story. It can touch ones heart, yet it can touch man's dependence on technology. On the emotional side,be thankful if your brother is selfish (word mo yan), he just challenged you to have your own. Yes Technology is a blessing from God. Be a good steward of it.
TumugonBurahinnice article we should buy our own camera pag mayaman na tayo haha..para ang model nten lage e cla cath, jex at sarah.. sila kc mahilig mag post. lalo na pag nkatutok na sa kanila ang camera :)
TumugonBurahini do agree that the pictures taken by an DSLR cameras are very different from the pictures taken by digital cameras. my elder brother do have one too, and like you, i can't even touch it or take a picture using that camera... he calls it his baby... hehe.. anyway, for me, it's not important what camera you used to take pictures, the more important is the moments you capture.. :)
TumugonBurahinmy dad owns SLR but it is not used today since i broke it when i was little. but based on the pictures taken before, it has already higher quality though it is not digital, there is no possibility to change or delete the pictures once the person is not satisfied to the picture taken. it is hard to bring though it seems cool. i've never experience handling a dlsr but i think that since it is digital, the quality is more better than the usual slr. but for me, it doesn't matter whether the gadget is slr or dlsr. what matter is the the outcome or the picture itself, the person or things involve that makes a person smile in the picture, also the memories involved either serious or funny.
TumugonBurahini had used that camera too from my friends and it was really a cool gadget. it produces quality shots specially in the hands of pro. i will include this in my wish list.thumbs up!=)
TumugonBurahinIt Is Nice To Know That You Divert Your Attention After What Happen In Our Engineering Night Last Year..
TumugonBurahinIt Is A Great Blog.. It Reminds People To Enjoy Despite Of Many Problems.. God Bless..

After graduating, you should get a good job. Then after that, go get a dependable camera better than the D40...maybe a D90 or something better. Getting into photography gets your knowledge limited by the limitations of your gadget. Yes, your camera. You actually don't save by getting the low end. You just stick yourself with it until you discover that you've short-changed yourself. Graduate..Save...Reward yourself. That's the trick.
TumugonBurahinGood Blog! Great background! Great inclusion of the banner. Keep blogging.
