A LEARNING EXPERIENCE DURING A TRAGEDY

NIKON D40 CAMERA
The day when typhoon Ondoy hit the country is the same day when I met a new friend in the form of a Nikon D40 DSLR Camera. It was also the day after the Engineering Night 2009. Well, I cannot deny the fact that I'm in a state of depression and stress that time and all I want to do is to rest, sleep and not to enjoy the company with my friends, but this new little friend helped me forget everything that had happened (for a while) and enjoy the 2-day stay at Aiko's house in Cavite.

At first glance, it really resembles my brother's Nikon D80. Yes, my brother have one, but I never had the chance to take a shot or even touch it for more than 3 seconds, maybe because he is too selfish that he does not want any of his siblings, except my youngest brother, to use his most valuable gadget.

IN FRONT OF A MIRROR
I took several pictures with my friend's D40 and I proved that the pictures are better than those taken from an ordinary digital camera, but at first, I admit that it is really hard to handle due to its bulky size. After few hours experimenting and taking pictures of my friends while they are playing cards, I took pictures of different objects - anything that caught my attention - and my friends Aiko and Paulo taught me some techniques in taking shots (which I already forgot. hehe). I also tried to take pictures of myself, but it is really hard to do! So I stopped and ask Paulo to take pictures of mine.

That 2-day stay had been filled with so much experience and memories. Even in the service van as we go home, I'm still taking pictures with D40, capturing the flooded areas of Cavite caused by Ondoy. My experience ended when we reached Buendia and had to ride on a bus. It was really fun using the Nikon D40 DSLR camera. If only I could have one...

Someday I know I will be able to have one.
